The most famous rice brand in Japan
Grown in the rich natural environment and pure waters of Niigata, Koshihikari is Japan’s leading rice brand, renowned for its rich flavour, firm texture, glossy appearance and delightful aroma. When cooked, it is white and glossy; each grain is plump and, the more you chew, the more you can taste its sweetness and savoury depth. It remains delicious even when cold, making it ideal for onigiri and packed lunches. It is perfect not only for plain white rice but also for seasoned rice dishes and sushi.
The Kaji River, which flows from the mountains of Shibata City—the rice’s place of origin—once had a highly variable water flow; however, thanks to the efforts of our predecessors, it has consistently produced rice of the highest quality. At Mr Honma’s farm, our rice grower, rigorous water management and precise control over the rice-planting process is maintained. Furthermore, the use of chemical fertilisers is minimised, opting instead for fertilisers rich in amino acids and minerals made from fish and shellfish offal.
