'Pesticide-free Milky Queen' from Nagano

In Omachi, Nagano, rice is grown with mineral-rich water filtered through the Northern Alps. Mr Kubota uses traditional methods, nurturing his fields with organic compost and homemade natural fertiliser. Fed by pristine snowmelt from the mountains, the rice offers a truly authentic Milky Queen flavour.

In the ‘Rice Taste Ranking’ conducted by the Japan Grain Inspection Association, Milky Queen is a high-quality variety that has earned the top rating of ‘Special A’ in several producing regions.

It has an exceptionally strong stickiness and deep, rich sweetness, with a soft, mochi-like texture. Its glossy white appearance when cooked is highly prized. As a low-amylose variety, Milky Queen stays tender and flavourful even when cold — making it ideal for lunchboxes and onigiri.
